Feng Shui Q & A: What Color Works With Lavender In A Feng Shui Bedroom?

A reader asked the question.

” Hi Dana, I don’t know if this is weird or not, (sorry if it is) but I was wondering if I could ask for some colour advice for a bedroom?  I am living in Korea, and life here is incredibly hectic and busy, and I am trying to create a bedroom space that is soothing, rejuvenating, uplifting and sensual, but not bland.

I am leaning towards taupe or lavender for a bedspread. Do you know what would go well with either of these colours, or can they go well together?

To create a soothing, rejuvenating, and sensual bedroom atmosphere, what suggestions do you have for a primary and secondary color? Thanks for your time and help!!”

My Answer:

That’s a great question!

From my perspective of colors as feng shui “elements”, you will do best to stay in one or two colors that represent elements that “feed into” one another.  Oh boy, I need to publish my e-book soon so that you fully understand this, but essentially, elements in nature replenish one another, and in decor terms, the most complimentary colors to dominate a room will be those that feed into one another in nature.  In this case, sensual and calming would likely be fire and earth. Fire becomes earth in the element cycle.

So, for instance, if you choose lavender as your bedding color, and have walls that are a creamy beige with pink or lavender undertones (just a hint of the color, nothing extreme or muddy, like a beige/taupe)….add splashes of white or metal for “clean metal energy” and perhaps organic patterned art or some floral paintings for wood element and nature…a bit of glass (candleholders, etc) for water…. You have a dominant color scheme with accents to create balance and life. Thats my (very long) suggestion!!!
