Flowers Floating in Herbal Tea

(via)

Where aches and pains and general illness are concerned, we often reach for Advil and Tylenol before thinking twice, masking rather than helping to treat the problem while alleviating pain.  What if you could both be pain-free and also somewhat treat the cause of your pain, anxiety or achy body? That’s what this little post is all about.  I could not live without this handful of must-have homeopathic chill out/ feel good stuff, and you might want to consider keeping it all stocked in your house, too!

Epsom Salts- a few cups in a bath can alleviate cramps, swelling, muscle tension, minor skin irritations (check the label!) and will definitely help you to “detox” during a cleanse/fast.  Interestingly enough, when you are moving from an unhealthy to a more healthy diet, you might find yourself feeling terrible for a week or two as lots of toxins (mainly yeast/internal bad bugs) get kicked out of your system.  I am a big believer in Epson salt baths for almost anything, they boost your magnesium which is a calming agent.

Calcium/Magnesium Powder- apparently, we all need a little more calcium and magnesium than we think we do!  Stirring a spoonful of this powdered Cal/Mag formula into a cup of tea at night is my “natural ambien” drink.  In addition to helping you sleep, this drink can help you feel and be more physically flexible, and has literally removed all muscle tension from my life.

MSM-  this one is a cool one.  MSM is a supplement that has been tested to be extraordinarily safe, and yet exceedingly effective, at helping with everything related to inflammation in your body.  MSM has been one of my secret stress/allergy cures.  I stir a spoonful into orange juice and knock it back when I start to feel crooked from typing for two many hours or my knees kill me from running in heels (ladies, why do we do this?!)  Its also awesome for arthritis, and can help you to have more energy in the day.  That said, always check the label and tell your doctor before taking supplements to be sure that they are 100% great for you!

Grapefruit Seed Extract- I consider GSE to be a MIRACLE.  Its like a little squeeze bottle of antibiotics, but not!  I keep this in the fridge and if I have a minor sore throat, its the perfect gargle to kill the pain.  It can kill stomach bugs (just a few drops a day in water is all you need!) and can even help with the “toxic purge” of internal bad-bugs if you are doing a cleanse.  The coolest thing about GSE is that you can use it to wash your produce (kills microbes, and totally natural), even wash your cutting boards in the kitchen with it..!

Rescue Remedy- if you don’t have this flower essence remedy on hand, you are missing out on some of the greatest stress relief known to the holistic world.  Keep an alcohol-free version at home for your pets & people and also carry around a little tin of Rescue Pastilles or Spray for days when things are just too emotionally trying.  I have road-tested this Bach Flower Remedy though very hard times and I will aware by it forever!

Ginger Tea- This may seem like a no-brainer, but ginger can really help end your nausea, stomachaches and even achey body during a cold.  Always keep a “hand” of fresh finer in the fridge.  When you aren’t making tea by boiling the root, you can throw it into everything from salad dressing to smoothies. Extremely good stuff!!!xoxo Dana

Great article1 I love all of these natural treatments. Have you ever taken ginger or frankincense essential oils internally for pain? I have and they work really well. I just put a few drops in a 00 capsule and it relieves pain and inflammation quickly.
