Shelterness

If you can operate a drill you can effectually make yourself wine bottle twinkle lanterns using THESE guidelines at Shelterness.  If you aren’t handy with a drill but want to make a big grip of these for a fabulous party or your mantlepiece or patio (gorgeous on a patio!) gather your bottle together and call a local hardware store to see if you can hire someone to drill for you.  I wouldn’t want anyone non-expert to be drilling glass, after all!

Apartment Therapy's awesome DIY inspiration.

The above felt-adorned lamps are accomplished with a little good old-fashioned hot glue and some imagination at Apartment Therapy.  They have a great roundup of this and other great lighting projects that are fabulous for up cycling your own blah lamps and lighting fixtures right HERE.

Crafty Nest's hemp lantern is a project I fully believe you can make today!

While the above project is seen far and wide in different flavors and forms on the DIY blogs, I would be remiss to leave it out of this roundup because it is simple & effective goodness!  Turn help cord and some glue into an intricate weblike orb that is sturdy and enchanting using THESE instructions from Crafty Nest.

hand-painted paper lanterns are divine!!!

While I have been reading that the painted lantern trend is well established in the party-throwing circuit, I am going to say that hand-painted lanterns— a little watercolor or acrylic + a brush of two + your imagination— are totally ingenious.

If you have a have DIY lighting project, please send it my way!!! I love giving my clients options to work with what they have when feng shui’ing their homes since its much more personal and transformative.  And I am obsessed with them myself!  Have fun! xoxo Dana
