Stability is so fundamental to life because it enables you to handle both the extremely fantastic as well as the less-than-great times in stride.

When you hit a hot streak in life and loads of goodness is flowing your way, without a good foundation you may not know how to “handle success” and might find yourself freaking out for no good reason.  Also, there are things that happen in life that are less-than-great that can rock us, whether it’s a bad storm outside or a personal storm in life.

Get grounded and you will be able to handle all of life in stride.  Some healing modalities look at certain areas of the body as energy centers that emotionally and physically affect and mirror the conditions of our lives.  These energy centers, or “chakras” provide a framework for looking at life in an integrated way- our emotions affect our bodies and lives, or bodies affect our life conditions, our environments affect our bodies and life conditions.  It is all interrelated.  Feng shui looks at how the environment affects the body, emotions and life condition. When you change the environment so that it activates the energy center or chakra of your body that roots you in stability financially, physically and emotionally (it is at the base of the spine, known as the root chakra) you will feel the grounded difference.

Today we will look at a few habits and feng shui home shifts that can help you get more stable overall.  There are hundreds of ways to do this, bit I thought I’d touch on a few common issues & basic fixes…

We have already talked a bit about some ways to open up the root chakra of your personal energy (if this sounds like a foreign language to you, all is explained HERE ) but today I thought it was a good time to look at a few habits & home shifts  that can help you get more stable overall.  There are hundreds of ways to do this, bit I thought I’d touch on a few common issues & basic fixes…!

Your Financial Habits & your office space: OK, we can talk for days about how you are making and how you are spending money, but I am far more interested today in what kind of stability you are building for yourself.  Even in non-traditional jobs and lives, we all have to know where our money is, how to access it, account for it and manage it.

*Keep your personal computer in excellent organized repair: besides cleaning the screen and keyboard frequently, also clear off the desktop of random documents and back up all very important data on another hard drive or two!

*Make sure that your desk or “home office” area (even if it’s a spot on your sofa where you sit) is easy to access, well lit and organized.

*If you are disorganized, seek expert advice.  Things like overdue bills, debts and taxes do not just go away if you stop thinking about them: these are the things that prevent you from flourishing.

*If you have a tendency to avoid certain topics or tasks, put them in red folders.  Your eyes will not be able to escape those to-do items!

Exercise In The Great Outdoors:  I know we all love to do yoga in beautiful studios and go to lovely gyms to work out on a daily basis, but try to spend some time outside stomping your feet on the ground (even metaphorically) by walking, hiking, running or even doing any form of yoga or exercise outside as well.  Being in nature helps keep you rooted in the earth and far more secure and stable energetically.

cinnamon teaThose Latches & Locks:  Whether its a door that sticks, a lock that is broken or a window that just won’t quite close, all of these dysfunctional pieces of a home can wreck your sense of stability.  These important facets of a home help us to feel more secure. When your window is always ajar, even on the 10th floor of a building, your life is not quite properly secured.   Fix them!

Cinnamon Tea: Leave it to me to throw something bizarre into today’s list of things to try!  Hot water with a spoon of honey and a spoon of cinnamon is an overall energy booster, immune booster and a grounding mixture for your body.  It has been shown to fight inflammation and much more.  Read all about it here... and bonus points for this one because it is delicious!

Grounded, secure, warm, rooted energy is the foundation for a healthy life. Focus on your basics of life (your home, good food, financial wellness, health & safety) and really nail them first.  The rest of life becomes so much easier! Ignore them and you may have a hard time making progress toward those higher aims, the big picture and the mighty missions that we all love.  Stability is where its at!

I just loved the call today! I love the picture of the rooted tree. I’ve been a martial artist for 49 years. One of the principals (of Zhang Zhuang) to stand like a tree. Rooted. Letting the legs sink into the ground as a tree is. Standing calmly like a tree in all seasons. I will send you a vid by the end of our class. Thank You again Dana for your awesome work and sharing.

Well, I broke my foot 2 1/2 months ago. Since then, it seems like I’m either losing old friends and family or so disappointed in people not showing upnthat iv know for 25 yrs. But, the flip side is ALL these other people have showed up and brought me dinner, did my laundry, dishes really everything. It has been the most beautiful experience ever for me. Any insight Dana? I’m trying to keep my cup full, have gratitude and look inside. I think your awesome!
