Today’s fast feng shui is all about the sense of sound. While I’ve touched upon sound therapy in the past when talking about singing bowls to help heal your emotional life (you can read all about them HERE), music has far-reaching ability to galvanize, motivate, trigger, inspire, speed or slow your body. Music transports. Music creates a whole new layer of architecture in space.
Music may also be a potential entry point into your brain itself to teach it new things. THIS amazing LA Times article discusses on a high level the ways in which music is being used to help heal in more traditional medical settings. If you can bypass the usual pathways of the mind using music, you can create new ones.
Now that’s some of the big picture for music in life…but lets talk small picture. Let’s look at the daily picture of your music and your life. How does music color your day? Does it? Can you pull up music that can add ambiance to your work day? Can you study to some classical, learning-enhancement arrangements? Can you use some music to create a more pleasant morning routine, especially if you generally don’t like waking up? Can you ditch music that has you repeating lyrics filled with heartbreak, cynicism, displaced rage….or can you use music to push you through those emotions to the other side?
Music is invisible, monumental energetic architecture. Create a soundtrack for your day, for your life, for the moment…and use it, remix it, switch it up…. Experiment. Shape new space with sound.
