I envy large collections of vintage oil paintings, particularly flowers.  Yard sales, flea markets and the local Goodwill are a treasure trove of vintage oils.  Mixed and matched, framed or bare-edged, these paintings are amazing visual building blocks for a more artful home.

Landscape paintings in all shapes and sizes get added personality from their creative frames.

While a wall of portraits is a lot of eyeballs for me to have staring at me from my own walls, this very spare room grains immense personality from a wall of portraits.

One simple portrait creates a very commemorative “altar” of sorts in a hallway.

Prop a painting or two on a side table or nightstand to add an instant layer of emotion and symbolism.

Really, there is no reason to live without art. There’s every reason to live with it!  Collect and curate. It will amplify your home in brilliant ways! xoxo Dana
