Today’s fast feng shui is all about becoming more OK with the “right now” and perfectly-perfect imperfection!
Self-growth is a great thing.
However, there is a temptation at times to look at wellness modalities as a means to attaining a state of “life perfection.”
Well, I am all for shooting for the stars, but there is a line between excellence and your personal best life for you… and that unwieldy word “perfect.” Perfect is not only not real, it is often what holds us back from finding our balance and freedom of expression in our lives. If you can let go of the desire for perfect and flow with the energy of right now, it is a huge relief! Plus… you may find lots of genius, confidence and joy waiting for you!
Some stuff to think about where ditching a desire for perfection is concerned:
The accidental, asymmetrical and totally wild often become masterpieces in art. In fact, every great artist I have had the pleasure of knowing and observing in action often pray for accidental brushstrokes or other imperfect “accidents” to sprinkle magic on their work.
If it’s not broken, there is no need to fix it. If your home needs physical repairs, that is worthy of immediate attention. If you actually love the way a room looks and feels, no need to rearrange it! Feng shui is not “redecorating” but, rather, re-balancing and energizing. You can add some aromatherapy (maybe a candle?) or even some music that strikes an elemental chord if you want to shift the energy.
You can make the best of what you have! A little paint on some old wooden furniture, soaking your mini-blinds in the bathtub, getting your carpet cleaned, making some re-purposed art from stuff you have (great DIY art right HERE) … Just about anything can be made to look fresh if you are feeling the need for change or upgrading your space!
Confidence is much more powerful than “perfection.” Build it! Incidentally, putting your own art on display in your home… or keeping a shelf for your books of poetry, or displaying an important personal collection to you… these are all ways to champion your own vision and artistic uniqueness in your home. Build your own confidence. Be your own champion!
And no matter what you do, if you find yourself feeling “imperfect”, shake it off and do something fun to celebrate your own uniqueness! xoxo Dana

Love this post! It’s what you keep telling me! I think you have put it into words perfectly here!
I love what you have to say about confidence in the things to think about section. It’s something I think myself and many others struggle with on the daily, and you put it in a beautiful perspective. Thanks for giving me something positive and confident to chew on.

Thank you, Dana. Just what I needed to hear and so simple. Building confidence exactly describes what I have been doing and explains why I DO feel more and more powerful even tho my life is only just beginning to reflect my inner self more accurately….There is much to do, but I HAVE found that even lighting a candle or putting on my counter top a jar of sand that I collected on holiday Do make me feel more at home. I like the brief, easily-digestible nuggets of wisdom you share. Tired of overloading…
