As it turns out, it really can be more simple to solve problem than we think, provided, that is, we stop thinking! While some issues require logic and “left brain” computation, most of life’s challenges benefit from the contributions of the creative mind.
And, as it seems, there are ways- some anecdotal, some scientific, but all reported to be valuable- to access that creative problem-solving mind- in your sleep!
Before you think I’ve gone off the deep end into a fully unfounded New Age haze by suggesting that you “sleep on your problems” to solve them, THIS article in Prevention Magazine sites many Harvard researchers and many notable doctors who use sleep as a problem solving tool. Pretty cool stuff.
Now, for the fun:
I was taught a technique that is extremely simple to remember and “activate” dreams. Ready?
As you are falling asleep, say clearly in your mind a phrase to the effect of “I will find the solution to XYZ solution in my sleep.” (use a phrase that makes sense for you, and use the same phrase)
This hasn’t solved my every problem (it has helped to solve some!), but is has created both wildly lucid dreams and a fantastic sense of the depths of experiential living that I think you might enjoy! You can try it tonight and see if you notice a difference. Of course, let me know! xoxo Dana
