I am not a person who revels in dwelling upon illness. I don’t take Advil or Tylenol, I am not a big fan of unnecessary chemicals and I am obsessed with acupuncture.
That said, all of us at one point or another have gotten sick, me included. Sometimes you aren’t sick, but your body feels stuck, tense… headaches, back pain. Or sometimes you find yourself in a medical conundrum- like a long-term physical condition- that requires a significant lifestyle switch.
I am not a doctor. I know nothing about medicine. I have been a patient many times, and often an angry patient. If you tell me I “can’t” heal something, I will prove you wrong, and fire you. I think Western medicine is genius, but there is way more to any body issue than just something physical.
And in the years of overcoming a few big physical imbalances, I have found a couple of voices that have helped immensely. So, if you or someone you know is looking to use your mind and spirit to contribute to your wellness, these four women have lots of amazing information for you!
Caroline Myss. Whenever I have been physically challenged, I ask, ” Why is this happening to me?” If you look through all of the writings of Caroline Myss she will ask you the questions that help you understand the energetic reasons underlying illness.
Christiane Northrup, M.D. Particularly if you are a woman, I encourage you all to read her very balanced and excellent information about healing, and comprehensive information about common physical issues, especially OB/GYN- related issues.
Louise Hay. Any and all of her books are amazing, and all of her positive self-affirmations are uplifting.
Lissa Rankin, M.D. Mind Over Medicine. If you are not sure if Mind-Body Medicine is real, Mind Over Medicine will give you some compelling case studies that are more than a coincidence in the way that our mind and our body work together.
While I am not a healer of any kind, I find myself recommending these ladies over and again to bring a fresh insight to illness and wellness, so I wanted to share them with you if you are unaware. I keep them on the bookshelf shelf as my energetic medicine chest! None bash modern Western medicine from what I have read. All provide new ways to use a healing crisis as a way to grow in life, and I do love that type of alchemy… and I hope you do, too!
All of feng shui and life at its best has a flow of energy that runs without being impeded, renews itself readily and corrects itself when it is out of harmony. So, as Lissa Rankin asks, “How health are your thoughts, beliefs and feelings?” And then ask, ” How are they reflected in my environment?” From there, you can start making shifts in your home & your spirit that will help you to feel amazing! xoxo Dana
