When I am introduced to a new artist that turns up the volume on my creative pulse, I am always thrilled to share. Los Angeles artist & musician Matthew Eikelberger is my big share of the day. His art is infused with a particular kind of fantasy – and his home is designed with a particular kind of awesome clarity in its eclectic nature- that I think you will love!
These self-contained sculptural works are reminicent of the organic nature and colors of his home. There is so much story in an encapsulated moment.
Of course I asked Matthew just one question.
Did you always know that you would become an artist?
I always enjoyed artistic projects, even at a very young age. As a kid, I was always drawing, or painting, or sculpting my favorite Star Wars characters out of clay. My mom took me to a lot of art classes when i was young. Those where the kind of things that made me happy. So even if making art isn’t something that becomes your livelihood, I think it is very important to make the time to fulfill that part of yourself.
He got Selby’d and it is so much fun.
Nearly-haunted with soul, his portraits of animals are so full of humanity that that I never grow tired of them.
Can you see how powerful it is to hang your artwork in your home, as I am always suggesting?! Can you see how the art and the decor are in spirit? Not competition… in amplified harmony. Swoon-worthy mirror-polished floors top it off perfectly.
You know I love peacocks. This one has a tale to tell.
Redefining dreamy, all of his art has a quality of inner light, even in its times of darkness. Its like he sprinkles emotion into his paint and stirs it through his whole aesthetic.
You can – and should!- explore more of Matthew’s work HERE. xoxo Dana
