While the go-to materials to decorate and appropriate a wall tend to be paint… or perhaps wallpaper— everything from magic marker to milk paint colorwashes, wheatpaste murals to elaborate maps are all up for grabs. Here are some of my favorite walls lately, to inspire your own unique home transformation.
To do the above mural without major skills, you can get an old school overhead projector and trace an elaborate coloring book image onto a clear sheet to be projected… and then traced… directly onto a wall.
If you haven’t seen this yet… welcome to Mind Body Green’s headquarters (designed & feng shui’d my ME! :)) featuring a Peter Tunney mural that is mindblowing.
Ombre walls are seriously fantastic… and less difficult than you may suspect!
Colorwashed wood lets the beauty of grain seep through rich stains of color. This tinting technique requires such a small amount of know-how it is fantastic!
These somewhat old-school sponge-painted walls look fresh with untra-modern furniture.
And maps— an on-point wall treatment any and every time!
