The connections we make to the spaces we inhabit bring us tremendous power. Feng shui at its core is the art of connecting more profoundly to space so that it supports your intentions and goals.
You can read enough feng shui tips in books and on the Internet to spin your head in a zillion directions… and none of them good! Today’s fast feng shui is all about creating spaces that work for you. It is DIY feng shui at its finest!
Does your home feel like a maze?
You need to rearrange your furniture (or even get rid of a few pieces) until you can walk through it freely. Don’t worry about money corners or symbols at this point, you just need to open things up.
Does your home make you tired?
Really, some environments suck the life out of you and to recognize that connection it the first step to changing it for the better. Adding some more light (natural or great lamps) will do the trick, or a mirror if the space is already well lit but still exhausting.
Does your home always get messy?
It is time to not only simplify your organization, take a look at how the mess ACTUALLY gets created.
I have been in homes that are so over-organized that to wash dishes becomes a micro-managed exercise in torture. You may need to get a bigger desk to spread out your work at home, or a more regular system for reviewing your mail. Whatever it may be, where mess is constant, you have your work cut out for you.
De-clutter and create a new- and more user-friendly- way to do what you need to do in your space.
These are some very basic steps- but as I set up my own new home I am still working through these basics. The foundation of a great life and home is very simple at its core.
When you understand the space-life connection and feel more settled, you will be highly motivated to make your space as awesome as can be. That is when you can layer on the feng shui magic tricks.
