I have more than a small fascination with rainbows, and for very good reason! When you fill a space with every color of the ROY. G. BIV spectrum you have a space that is resonant with every wavelength of color that we can easly perceive. The result is a very unique burst of energy that is hard to achieve in decor in any other way.

Here are a few bits of rainbow-spiration to get you thinking more vastly and more colorfully today.

I am reminded of the episode of Mad Men where Don Draper is in his pink bathroom wrapped in a pink towel and all I could think (ok, I could think of a few things at the time!) was: People really loved color in the 1960’s; what happened to our love of color?   

Bring it back with a flourish of rainbow-streaked Mid Century furniture.

If you have an old staircase and some small jars of paint in rich hues, you can create a rainbow staircase that immediately raises the energetic value of your every step!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.  If you want to create a kitchen- or any room- worth a million re-Pins on Pinterest and a barage of press, paint every cabinet in your room in pieces of a rainbow. This reminds me of some of my favorite Ellsworth Kelly paintings, and,  incidentally they are the  inspiration for this very blog design, too!

Since white light is really a stream of all colors of the rainbow at once, when you add a spectrum, you add a wild spread of illumination to any room.

If you want to try one right away, grab yourself a box of crayons or a set of markers and leave them open on your desk, or stuffed in a mug like I have mine!  Its a good starter-rainbow, and a punchy bit of creative juju for your day.
