Margaux Roy is a master of the delicate- emerging forms, slight colors, and washes of light. Her photography is sweet and dreamy, pensive and sculptural. While many dial up the saturation of an image to create an emotional exclamation point, here the divinity of the art is in its quiet grace.
As I have been making quite a case lately for the magnetic power of repose, rest, breaks, holiday and meditation, this art is such an affirmation and expansion of this quiet yin prowess. Her view of the world is so sunny and filled with breath, I imagine the artist herself as pure joy.
It’s as though the universe can evaporate, as though we can transcend it…
As though molded from clay, the sacred geometry of nature is revealed in the unfolding of this succulent.
Where the line between our buzzing quantum particles of matter and that of the sky and sea and sun converge- or get blurred- is where the true nature of our being is described in a subtle and simple gesture.
Isn’t it a wonder when a lemon shines like a jewel?
With such ease, she manages to reduce space to forms and patterns.
Disco balls go anywhere as far as I am concerned, but this big globe is the heartbeat of a visual field.
You don’t want to miss a minute of Margaux Roy‘s work, like deep breaths and meditation in action. You can view more of her portfolio here, and her Tumblr- also a minimal work of magic- is here. xoxo Dana
