Expanded scope, seeing the world, living globally… it all can be captured in maps and globes.
Today’s design’spiration is around-up of globe & map fun that you can pull from vintage stores, closets and my beloved Etsy to create a worldlier, wiser, more adventurous home!
These vintage tourist maps are so sweet in how they appeal to the simplicity of the old-time tourist.
More modern maps bring bigger vision to chic lounges and creative spaces.
Lining a wall full of all kinds of maps expands history and topography in an entrance way. What a great reminder that the Earth is always changing… and that it is very alive in itself!
Best. Wallpaper. Ever.
Borderline overboard, layering maps and globes together.
I am struck by how “meta” and cool this is— you pull down the screen and get an even more broad sense of the world as a map is revealed in place of the lush view.
There’s something of treasure in maps and globes on display. There’s a trajectory and a world beyond our own that hangs like potential energy just waiting to be mined. While I have yet to master the map-wallpaper trick (I’m thinking THIS project is a good place to start) , I am super-excited to find the perfect map for the career area of the bagua of my own home!
Could you use a big map or a fabulous globe in your life… and the wanderlust indulgence that it brings? xoxo Dana
