In the wake of major change in world, I had a few thoughts that all folded back into one big thought: my mission – something that I feel like waves of energy moving through me- has just exponentially multiplied.
I’ve been on a mission to transform environments and lifestyles to their highest light and love with the best thoughts, words and actions available to me every day for 10 years, and this mission is turning what could be a dark or scary time into the most fiery passionate time of creativity I have ever felt.
I can’t tell anyone what to do or what best way to think or to live, since there’s really no best ways, but there are universal principles of energy- like the power of focus and the incredible nature of cause and effect- that seem to touch us all.
Living with a strong personal mission takes the ordinary to extraordinary.
It makes life limitless.
It’s like a magnet that brings people together.
It doesn’t need to be a perfect mission, it doesn’t have to seek to change the whole world, but the higher it lifts you every day, the more it does change the whole world.
Creating Awesome Karma
No matter what your religious, cultural or political beliefs, the principle of Cause + Effect pervades all of science at a Law of Physics and so many ancient civilizations as a principle of life.
For the last 16 years I’ve been studying karma. It’s essentially Cause = Effect. You do things and you experience the results of them. I realize for myself that the best causes (thoughts, words and actions ) that I can make will bring the best effects… and not just for me, but for everyone. Same goes for your great thoughts, words and actions. They change the world daily.
No matter what’s happening around us, we have a choice and we can set our eyes- and direct our lives- on a mission that lifts us up and keeps us flowing in more of the creative electricity that’s everywhere.
Clarify Your Mission
I used to roll my eyes at this idea because I had no professional clue what I was going to do with my life, but I knew I wanted it to be creative.
What I realize ten years down my present path is that a personal mission isn’t necessarily a job choice or a path or career… in fact… even if being the best at what you do career-wise is part of what drives you, a mission statement goes deeper and illuminates the values, the core principles and the effects you want to create.
For example, you can have a mission to be the best at tennis and shock the audience at each of your matches with your inspired game… But that doesn’t really explain the kind of person you’ll be, the kind of endorsements you’ll accept or the kind of values you’ll project and share.
Let’s just say that being the best for the sake of being the best, or being in power for the sake of power, can be limiting at best and often it’s uninspiring.
Have you been around someone driven to win with no regard for the people around them?
Yeah, not a very awesome person. And not awesome karma to be generating, to step on people for the sake of personal gain.
We are all meant to exchange energy and not to siphon it up and use our power to wield over others. You know that, but I mention it to make a very distinct distinction: your values are a huge part of your mission, and the energy that infuses all that you do.
I don’t care if you have a career, a traditional life or really just feel lost right now in that regard or have no interest in work: we all need a mission.
A mission that’s filled with the energy and effects you want to bring to each day lights up everything around you.
Write Down Your Mission
Stephen Covey, the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® has a website that illuminates the action of creating your own mission statement.
(designed by the brilliant Jake Huhn. check out his portfolio HERE!)
It’s explained on his website: “A personal mission statement is based on habit 2 of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People called begin with the end in mind. In ones life, the most effective way to begin with the end in mind is to develop a mission statement one that focuses what you want to be in terms of character and what you want to do in reference to contribution of achievements. Writing a mission statement can be the most important activity an individual can take to truly lead ones life….”
And goes on to explain, ” Your mission statement becomes your constitution, the solid expression of your vision and values. It becomes the criterion by which you measure everything else in your life.”
If you can identify that which makes you tick, the core values you abide by, the ultimate aims you have in terms of influencing the world around you and creating effects… you have all the ingredients for a Mission Statement.
Take some time to write and keep amending your Mission Statement until it’s so exciting that you can’t ever forget it! HERE are some examples.
Now… Live That Mission!!!
Every single day:
You have a mission to refer back to when you’re faced with choices.
You have guiding energy to help you pull together your to-do list.
You have lots of focus.
You can sweep away all the energy (including destructive people, places and ideas) that are way out of line with your mission.
You’re guided, and, in some ways, propelled…
And that’s why I am so emphatic about having a mission, more than I am about goals or wishes or anything else… if you have one thing, let it be core values and passion and a desire to lift up your life and the lives of those around you in your own unique and special and amazing ways!
