Oh, I know how dark things can feel. But, I want to focus on the light.
I know, I’ve been hit in the past with an onslaught of surreal negativity, and maybe you have, too.
But, I want to focus on the light.
When negativity comes in a wave, it stops creation. It becomes like a domino effect, wiping out positive sleep, positive body thoughts, positive outlooks, positive creativity…
Today, the Feng Shui is a few quite simple but very effective ways to pull yourself out of the overwhelm of negativity.
Believe in a better way… in action.
Instead of fighting against people who disagree, find ways to advance forth positive causes with decisive actions. I can’t say enough about the power of having a plan to keep you on track and focused.

The big deal is that you have focus and even if you re-write your plan, please make it and keep working on it. It’s the simplest thing but it is practical magic!
Resist the urge to convince and plead with others to have empathy, positive energy or anything else…
I know how it is to feel fantastic, love everyone, feel smiling and joyous… and then have someone rain all over your parade with a barrage of negativity. So, of course, you and I believe so much that happiness is available to everyone and that love is universal that we explain to them how optimism is awesome and then soon plead with them that humanity needs love and often find ourselves arguing about these things because it’s so surreal how some people can’t hear it… and later… we feel shell-shocked from the futility of all of it. In one fell swoop we just went from LOVE on the chart of emotion above all the way to APATHY.
That chart is powerful. It shows the measured energy frequencies of emotions. Above 200, life becomes easier. Below 200, life is a struggle on a basic level. When you feel wonderful and then try so nobly to spread that wonderfulness to people who feel perpetually angry, fearful, apathetic, guilty and don’t care to hear your happy words… and… despite the fact that they have no interest in listening, you persist… the only thing that happens is the spiral down the scale above!
Am I suggesting you shouldn’t try to inspire people?
I am suggesting that when people don’t want happiness, joy, love or anything else, that it’s worth accepting that and moving along to help people who DO want it! We are all entitled to the life we want, and not everyone wants the same things. It’s just very hard to hang around with people who want for misery and feel happy at the same time, so pick all your partners in life wisely.
Remove the ambient negativity from your life.
What this means to me?
Soon I’ll be exclusively posting on social media through my phone so the news headlines don’t seep into my consciousness non-stop and build up like a plague. (Informed is great. Bombarded is not.)
I also removed some newsletters from my inbox that gave me strange negative feelings with their headlines. (I mean, why keep that coming?)
I stopped visiting places that made me feel bad. (certain grocery stores in Los Angeles are more of a show than a place to buy food, some coffee spots are not at all relaxing…etc, etc…)
That’s all small stuff but for me, it handles the places where the white noise and often-insidious extra negativity creeps into my own day.
Where are you finding yourself getting pulled out of positive momentum and flying into a down-spiral?
Where are you getting overwhelmed?
Can you make small shifts to reduce the negative overwhelm?
You certainly can.
I’m pretty sure we’re all going to have all kinds of days of every kind of emotion, but the general overall goal that supports your body, your creativity and your whole life is to always move toward love.
Even if it’s a baby step to feeling happier today, an inspiring documentary on Netflix tomorrow, a walk in the sun five days from now… let that extra step of energy build into it’s own snowball of joy!

Thank you for the wonderful timing of this Dana. I had just decided not to go to start going to a yoga studio across town because they changed the class time and I didn’t want to get caught up in stressful fish hour traffic…which is full of other drivers’ negativity. I feel better about that decision now.
