While no one can say for an absolute fact that they’ve found the ultimate fountain of youth formula, a few things stand out in the stories of ageless people I know and ageless icons living vibrant lives toward and past 100 years old lifestyle, attitude + simplicity.
My grandma who lived to nearly 97 was a testament to much of what I am about to share below, researched by my sister Nicole who knew there had to be a component in our bodies that changes in some more rapidlythan in others as we get older . Grandma grew up on unprocessed food, she never had a cell phone or cared for anything electronic, she stayed away from stress and she thrived. I celebrate her life- and her vibrance- every day !
Mitochondria are the parts of our cells that convert food into energy and they’re super-important to our vibrant lives. Today’s exploration is all about how lifestyle choices can keep us more vibrant !
Since mitochondrial function is at the very heart of everything that occurs in your body, optimizing mitochondrial function – and preventing mitochondrial dysfunction by making sure you get all the right nutrients and precursors your mitochondria need – is extremely important for health and disease prevention. Dr. Mercola
Mitochondria are structures that exist within your cells that serve as a mechanism used to covert (nutrients, food) into energy. Mitochondria break down carbohydrates and fatty acids to fuel and power your body. This is known as cellular respiration. Mitochondria are also known as the powerhouse of your body or sometimes a persons “battery”.
When you improve your intracellular network, the process of aging begins to slow down and you reduce your risk of disease. Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard Medical School explains HERE that as you take care of your mitochondria, you reduce the risk of getting diseases linked with age, such as Alzheimers, cancer and heart conditions.
Research has shown that as we age, mitochondrial dysfunction begins to set in the effects of this weakening is shown most after the age of 40.
Dr. David Sinclair of Harvard Medical School explains the importance of mitochondrial health HERE:
Junp Starting Your Mitochondrial Health:
If you can hack those little mitochondria to make them leak [fewer] electrons, to make them more effective and efficient in creating energy, to make them [create] less inflammation when they make energy, youre probably going to live a lot longer. Dave Asprey
1. Foods that are rich in PQQ include beans, celery, cocoa, kiwi, papaya, parsley, potatoes, spinach, green tea, green peppers and wine. Eating more veggies in general is awesome!
2. Exercise: Exercise increases mitochondrial biogenesis. According to Dr. Julian Whitaker, simply doing moderate exercise consistently is enough to grow new mitochondria. As he explains HERE , The stress of physical exercise tunes up existing mitochondria and activates biochemical pathways that stimulate the production of new ones
3. Avoid common lifestyle toxins that stress our bodies. Mercola lists mold, food additives and other toxins such as mercury and aluminum as stressors. These are known to inhibit your bodys ability to produce energy via mitochondria. Natural deodorant free of aluminum is a simple switch. Inspect your home for mold and steam clean your shower tiles. Eat only whole foods and that’s a lot of vibrant change!
4. Use your cell phone less. Also, you may want to purchase a radiant barrier cell phone case to block cellular radiation. As noted in Barbara Drtina President & CEO of Nutrigenomics, Cellular Health/Wellnesss article, Dr. Mercolas Take on Cell Phones and Your Mitochondria she quotes Dr. Mercola as saying, Researchers have discovered that the radiation from cell phones can harm your mitochondria, including flipping certain genes within the mitochondria.
You can purchase cell phone radiation block cases HERE. Plus you can find soooo many options all over the Internet. I am waiting for mine to arrive, but after seeing the simple video along with these I think these may be a great step that’s affordable toward lowering EMF risk.
!!!
Of course, keeping your home light and happy, your life free of extra stresses and your days filled with activities, people, plants and pets that are all in family that’s all great in every way possible!!!
No matter how you’ve been thinking, eating, living or moving, right now you can always decide to make a positive change and get the energy buzzing brightly!
xoxo
