I’m a big believer in continual growth. For me that means continually stretching my own knowledge, experimenting, learning and, indeed, improving my own home. I try everything that falls within my belief system— no superstition, no disempowerment, no gurus to follow, nothing that requires me to imbue an object with power over my life in order to be lucky.
I share tons of it here, and with all the Feng Shui Camp members and now with members of The School of Intention that are becoming feng shui professionals in my ways of feng shui.
This is what I am passionate about sharing— we ALL can have better environments.
I’m also acutely aware that we all don’t have endless budgets to make our homes better or our lives better. Not everyone has thousands upon thousands at the ready at the moment for new renovations, massive crystals or immersions in transformational therapies… and that doesn’t mean that wellness and joy and great feng shui is only available to the very wealthy.
For me, this is for everyone. Starting from where you are, getting to where you want to be.
I’ve watched many people rise from struggle to a comfortable level of wealth using these tools. I have seen people transform their wellbeing and get a greater sense of their power and expand possibility all on a foundation of simple steps forward.
It’s why I have been passionate about sharing a ton on the blog.
It’s also why I’m always making home upgrades to test things out and see where I can find better and better products, better methods and more efficient and sustainable ways to make a home glow.
Today… I am sharing a few ways that I have make my home so much better in the last month. And, there’s so much more to come!
1. Softness.
More soft blankets for the sofas, super soft beds for the dogs (* there are many places to find these that are sustainably made) and more plush pillows have made my home incredibly more welcoming.
HERE is more on Hygge— the power of this philosophy can be harnessed year-round.
2. Bathroom storage.
I have struggled to wrangle all of the all the fabulous bathroom tools that I love (A Water-Pic being top on the list)and to keep a clear countertop. I have finally decided on creating a new set of drawers for the bathroom by refinishing the unfinished $35.00 pine Rast storage unit from Ikea. Today I am assembling the Rast and this week I’ll be refinishing it to create something like this:
THIS project from Ikea Hackers is my inspiration.
I am extremely excited to do this with eco-friendly paint and wood stain, and I’ll be gathering up supplies. For now, the unfinished Rast is a transformation in itself!!!
3. Huge energy shifting.
Whenever I am looking at a massive energy shift in a home, I look to decrease the EMF energy and other stresses in a space and lift the energy higher. While there are many crystals that can be helpful for this, I have found them to be expensive to get in large enough quantities to make a difference. Instead, I started using Orgonite.
Orgonite is a mix of resin, metal shavings and small bits of crystal (consider it a collection of scraps of larger materials that otherwise wouldn’t be used) that has incredible energy shifting properties. Each small orgonite tower buster can improve a space 50-100 meters around it. Because I am living in a city, because I’m electrically sensitive and I LOVE to raise the energy higher, I have 12 tower busters in my house right now— in the bedroom, in my plant pots, in my kitchen fruit bowls, next to electronics and computers.
They are very inexpensive and Orgonite Andy is presently my favorite source. I feel the difference dramatically.
4. Essential Oil Sprays.
I can’t say enough about the essential oil sprays I have been making and using.
It’s as easy at filling a glass spray bottle that is re-useable with 1/4 witch hazel (or vodka, I like witch hazel) 3/4 purified water and, for every 8 oz. bottle I add about 30 drops of oil. Give the bottle a little gentle mix before spraying. I spray these all day long, and presently prefer them to a diffuser because I can focus them on, say, my desk chair, my bedding and mattress, or any other specific spot. Place these around your house with oils of your choice and you’ll always have a freshener.
I’m making one for my car later today, too!
5. Healing Foods Everywhere!
As I write this, I am drinking a glass of fresh and incredibly hydrating cucumber juice. After I write this, I will be learning how to harvest and scrape the gel from a single leaf of the huge aloe plant in my bathroom to whir in the blender along with cooled rosemary tea to make a spray-on daily hair and scalp treatment. (*I will keep you posted— it’s based on THIS video)
Filling my home with incredible bounties of healing foods has raised eyebrows as a shop at the local markets (*I buy about 6 reusable giant bags of produce every week) but I am noticing it’s becoming a trend. I keep lots of ginger for juices, tea and infused water, fresh herbs for all things, raw honey, tons of produce that gets juiced, roasted, sautéed or made into huge soups and salads… and there is tea everywhere.
Since I’ve been doing this with more gusto, my home is more creative and I feel so much more revitalized. Eating all day long has helped rebalance my adrenal glands, calm my body and focus my mind. And, I’m learning to make up recipes on the fly so that no produce goes to waste, ever.
If you are eating as many oranges and squeezing as many lemons and limes as I am, you will love making this citrus cleaning spray!!!
6. Making The Door More Beautiful
Right now, for Fall + Winter, a big evergreen wreath (this one is from Etsy) is headed to the front door. Spring + Summer, a wreath of lavender and other Space Clearing herbs like rosemary are the perfect replacement.
Super-simple, but also, incredibly energetically aligning and botanically potent!!
7. Shower Plants
By creating bathroom storage, I’m creating a place for more plants in the bathroom.
For me, that’s more aloe to grow!
For you, maybe an orchid?
These plants all do great in the bathroom, and they create greater feng shui energy in the process.
8. Book Purge
Making more space is a totally *FREE* way to create more magnetism at home or at work.
I love a little rainbow book inspiration!
But, moreover, it’s the energy of books that matters most.
Books are loaded with energies and when the energies are discordant with my own, I know it’s time to let some of them go. On this pass through my book collection, I managed to pull out 10 books that I no longer wanted or needed. Ten books in one pass! Right now, I’m reveling in the freshness of the books I have that are so much more easy to navigate and locate after this clutter-clearing!!!
This is all very easy, it tends to all feel fantastic and the results can exceed your wildest expectations! Have fun!!!
xoxo!!! Dana
