I never understood why anyone thought that positive affirmations can build your confidence. I spend countless hours over the years sitting and reciting the most positive statements about myself, and while I’m sure it did no real harm, it didn’t help me much.
I felt the same. My life changed very little.
But, affirmations worked for so many people. So many of my friends were living proof that positive affirmations can build your confidence. I thought it just didn’t work for me.
I stumbled upon this exercise as I was walking in the park with a mask on at the start of the global health crisis while listening to a video full of affirmations. We were being instructed to speak the words out loud, and with a mask on, that seemed fine by me.
I felt a shift after 10 or 15 minutes, so I tried it again, this time, as I cleaned my house a few days later.
It became an amazing habit, and I can totally attest to the fact now that positive affirmations can build your confidence.
