Organizing your schedule is one of the most potent ways to optimize your life. I aim to be carefree and on top of my life all the time, but I’m not there yet. Yet, I’m pretty close. And if you want to join me, I am very sure that we can get there fast. If you organize so that you put your self-care, self-love, and wellness first, everything else in your life will be easier.
I know you’ve heard this before. It’s not a new idea. But, if you haven’t done it yet, it’s my hope that these ideas can help.
I bet you’re really busy and have a lot to think about. Maybe there’s so much going on that you can’t imagine having time to do any kind of self-care or anything else. This can be exceptionally life changing for you.
Right now, I have two major deadlines. I am also in the process of realigning my whole body. This includes: myofunctional therapy for my tongue, face, jaw and teeth, posture body work, mixing in a much more fortifying diet, and, oh yes, I have a whole Feng Shui School and programs and clients that are a main priority. Plus, I’ve got a life to both live and love, so I don’t plan on looking at this to-do list as anything more than something thrilling. Maybe this is the way mountain climbers feel about hiking to the top of Mt. Everest?
Before I embraced this schedule with a good attitude and open arms, I admittedly had a freak out moment. Then, I got excited.
If you’re ready to put yourself at the center of a major growth spurt in your own life, you can schedule this way to optimize your life:
Make a list of everything that encompasses your optimal daily habits right now. This is not a to-do list. This is a list of all the habits that will maintain your awesome, optimal life. Include habits you already do, and ones you feel compelled to start. Include things like skincare, showers, and pretty much every ritual you’ve got.
Mine include 2 daily facial massages, tongue exercises, a breathing routine, walking at least 10,000 steps, Buddhist practice for about 2 hours, visualization, posture training, and… yeah, that’s some of it.
If you’re wondering why it has to be so much, most of this physical therapy is essential right now, and my spiritual practice is non negotiable. So, yes, it’s all needed at the moment.
Now, actually allot realistic amount of time for each one. While in my mind I can do all of this in a flash, in reality it takes 4 hours total. Next to each habit, give yourself a very realistic amount of time.
For example, while you can shower in 5 minutes, I have a feeling your shower may be three or four times longer that that. I gasped a bit when I timed out my day today, but this is what it takes to see groundbreaking improvements right now. I’m so committed to a revolution this year that I’d do 6 hours if I needed to, as long as I’m getting the results, but 4 hours is plenty.
Once you know how much time it will take, realistically distribute your habits throughout your day, divvying them up as needed. For example, you may not be able to do a 10,000 step walk on your lunch break, but you can do a 20 minute walk that adds lots of steps and momentum to your day. I don’t have two hours to do my Buddhist practice in the morning, but I can split it up in the morning and evening.
What’s standing in your way?
Immediately after realizing I actually needed four hours a day to do everything I flashed on the simplest solution– I need to get up earlier every day. You might need to do the same. It can be something that easy. Don’t get me wrong: waking up early is not always easy for me, but it’s doable.
You might realize you are too disorganized in your home, and you can start organizing now to make it easier to do everything you need to do in the months ahead.
You might also notice that there’s just something had to describe like a weight that’s weighing you down. If you feel that way, I highly recommend clearing some hidden clutter. I made a whole video that’s liked HERE for you:
Are you committed and ready to recommit every day?
Commitment is the key. If you don’t really want to do any of your habits, you definitely won’t have an easy time, if you have any ability to stick with it at all.
Choose habits that are doable that you enjoy. For example, I can join a gym to do 10,000 steps on a treadmill or I can walk outside. One is miserable for me (gym) and one is game changing for me (outside). There are often many ways to do the things you need to do and you can pick the most enjoyable option!
Notice your progress! Celebrate it!
Yesterday someone told me that my face looks more open and relaxed. A few days ago someone commented on my posture being great. These are huge wins, but I can’t rely on outside validation.
Instead, celebrate for yourself! Make a list of gifts, rewards, and awesome things to do for yourself as you hit milestones. Remind yourself every day that you’re doing an amazing job. Keep validating yourself and fall in love with the journey as much as the finish line.
It’s going to be a revolutionary season!
Get excited. Get committed. Get ready. And, get started!
xoxo!!!
