Feng Shui Q & A: No Choice But To Put My Bed In The Corner

Jun 29, 2012 | Feng Shui 101

A reader asked the question: ” I just had a question about my bed. I have to put my bed in the corner at an angle. I read I should put something behind the headboard like a plant or divider. Which one should I get?”

My answer:

When you kinda “box in” a corner like you will when you place a bed “caddy-corner” like this in a room, you need to bring that corner to life.  A trick that I often utilize if it can be done to look good is to put an upward-facing light behind the bed, like a torch lamp that faces up.  Now, if you hate the way this looks, you are not alone!  A way to “mask” it and add even more”life” in this area is to add a big enough plant behind it (no pointy leaves) that it obscures the lamp.  You can also look for small canister lights and put them on the table behind your bed pointed at the ceiling.

This can often be a very good bed position, it just takes a bit of doing.  Don’t forget the nightstands, though!
