There is one place in your home where a few chemicals gather that you can consume, spray, bathe in and beautify with: the medicine cabinet!
For those of you who do not have a formal medicine cabinet, I know you may have drawers, counter tops (yikes!) or other organizers stuffed with medicine-chest items.
Today its time to start a detox the worst of the unnecessary, lurking chemicals.
Even if you don’t do it overnight, replacing products in your medicine chest as they run out with their non-toxic alternatives over time will dramatically cut down the toxic load your body is exposed to daily and this is big news for the energy of your home and the health of your life!
The first de-clutter of the toiletries in your life include: old prescriptions, expired creams and lotions (yep, they go rancid and expire, filling with bacteria that can be very bad for you) and ridiculously old toothbrushes and other stuff that has been hanging around.
Next, check the list below against the ingredients in your toothpaste, deodorant, nail polish, mouthwash, body lotion, sunscreen and other toiletries.
There are far more chemicals manufactured for our personal use than these on the chart, but this is a good jumping off point.
Based on the facts in this chart, decide which items you will let expire or run out (I tend to let sodium lauryl sulfate slide in toothpaste from time to time, but never use anything with fragrances or dyes. You can decide what is most important to you!) and which you want to replace right away.
With a few facts, a few minutes and a bit of determination, this little exercise will add a ton of non-toxic clarity to your healthy beauty life!
