Can you remember the last time that you had a delicious meal? How about a great snack that wasn’t a piece of junk food? When was the last time you sat down and poured yourself a cup of tea and had a piece of pie (even raw vegan pie, or sugarless, gluten-free pie?)? How about the last breakfast you remember? What about the best meal you’ve ever had?
Feeding yourself with deliciousness does not require a ton of money or time. Slicing a fresh apple and sitting down to eat it, that can be remarkably delicious, especially with some peanut butter or coconut cream on top. Eating a date can be sweeter than a candy bar and more memorable because its less “common.” A fabulous fresh soup can be made by slowly simmering veggie leftovers in a big pot for broth and then adding some red lentils to create a creamy delight.
My point here? Eating is an important part of life, and while we all are not intuitively born to cook, we all need to eat…well! try to have a memorable food experience every day, or every week at the very least. One great meal can add so much sensory goodness to your life, literally flavoring it with memories. Oh, yes, and savoring food is much different from devouring food. With deliciousness, you breathe, you sit and relax, you chew, you savour and you feel fantastically nourished. Aim for savoring, resting and being grateful that you can feed yourself so beautifully. You have no idea how lucky you are. xoxo Dana
