Chantal Moore’s Balanced Beauty: Trader Joe’s Organic Coconut Oil

Nov 22, 2012 | The Beautiful

I am so thankful for all the wisdom and expertise that celebrity makeup artist and beauty guru Chantal Moore brings to me & The Tao of Dana.  Today, she brings us one amazing product that you will not be able to live without!

From Chantal: “In the Thanksgiving spirit this weeks Balanced Beauty product pick is one that I am personally very THANKFUL for- Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. The reason it is a “beauty pick” will be explained later. This valuable multi-tasker can be easily found locally- and at a great price. Not only is this oil a must have in the kitchen- it is a beauty must have, as well. Organic Virgin Coconut Oil can be pricey- and when you want to use it for multiple purposes you look for value.

Coconut oil is naturally anti-bacterial and is a remedy for many conditions when taken both orally and applied directly to skin. I use coconut oil for cooking, I add it to smoothies, I take spoonfuls direct, I add it to my cat’s food for her health, I add it to my bath water, I use it as a moisturizing skin treatment and I use it once a week, as a pre-wash hot oil hair treatment. This is what makes this oil a beauty must-have. For the hot oil hair treatment I simply warm it up in a pan on the stove, let it cool to touch and then focus running it through the ends of my hair, massaging it up throughout the rest of my hair, going light through the roots. Once fully saturated- I put my hair in a top knot and after covering my hair in a clear plastic cap I apply heat from a hair dryer. After a few minutes I jump in the shower, wash and condition. Nothing makes my hair shine the way hot coconut oil does.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I would like to say THANK YOU Trader Joe’s! Visit your local Trader Joe’s to find their Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and discover it’s many uses for yourself!”

Trader Joe’s is my grocery store of first choice (always), but their coconut oil is exceptional. For all of the reasons listed and so many more!
