My Requisite DIY Holiday Gift Post…Chic & Cheap!

(Emily Henderson)

In the past years I have been asked to write a number of “feng shui gift guides” and its always a joy to pull together a wish list for the holidays (closest thing to writing a letter to Santa), but its the DIY gifts that always blow my mind.  I promise in the future to document my own DIY gifting during the holidays, but this season I thought I’d give you a simple selection of inexpensive, super-simple and yet impressive gifts to make & give to all this holiday season!

Gold leaf is something so precious to me.  Combine dollar store candles with gold leaf and you get Emily Henderson’s version of magic.  Honestly, I don’t know a single person who would not be thrilled to get some of these!

Above, the ready-to-grow paperwhites kit is a dreamy bit of awesome from Domaphile.  For a few bucks a pop you can assemble a box full of them for the office, your classmates, your book club… (you get the picture!)

Another fabulous idea (a bit more snarky as presented above) is customized mugs.  The cool thing? With THESE instructions from Little Gray Fox you can put ANYTHING on a mug yourself, in no time flat, with very little to no skill required!

Sugar scrub is so much more pleasant than, say, a gift card to Starbucks (though those are fun, too).  Retail its $10-40 + for an ample jar.  To make it… a few dollars.  And its infused with your good vibes. Jacolyn Murphy’s version, rock candy and all, is striking!

And, not to be a nerd, but some of my favorite gifts are journals and stationary. These journals from Yvonne Koo have major wow factor, yet are thrillingly simple to make from a composition book!
