Maroon is my absolute color obsession of the year ahead.  In feng shui, emerald is a wood color, and lots of wood in feng shui creates fire. In essence, a deep maroon is the perfect splash of balance to this year ahead dominated by Pantone’s gemstone emerald green.  I thought I’d do a little tear sheet of maroon madness to get you as excited as I am for 2013 in full color!

When I heard that emerald was the Pantone color of 2013, I could not help but think of maroon.  Perhaps its the classical art historian in me, or maybe the die-hard lover of the color wheel that I am that has taken me toward a sudden lust for maroon…? Maybe this season of rooting for Terry McDermott on The Voice and my mind has been hypnotized by Maroon 5 and Adam Levine?   No matter…I’m hooked, so lets make it gorgeous!

Lets make it gorgeous like a Rothko.  He loved maroon.  Lots of spiritual richness in its fusion of violet and crimson.
