There’s more than a little something to be said about keeping your dreams and plans to close to you- only sharing with the closest and most supportive people. It sucks when people invalidate your dreams and criticize your vision for your life… even if they are being “contructive.” Especially if you are starting out with an idea or endeavor or entering an exciting new phase of your art or life, the last thing you need is to get a dose of “hareorade.” Take responsibility and only share with people who 100% have your back. I quit writing novels when I was 23- shared my plans (and my first book) with my Dad. That was the end of that ambition for a long time. And I could list about 30 others things that got shaken up, got me shaken up and got totally messed up when I shared them too soon or too widely, and got a bunch of “constructive” feedback. No more of that for me…or for you! xoxo Dana
