Creative Tools : A Great Big Desk!

steel oak custom desk

I am a bit of a nut when it comes to desks.  Not only does my desk need to be huge, chances are I will also use a giant dining table as a second desk, after-hours.  I like to spread out my thoughts.  A big rectangle in feng shui is a big catalyst for creative thinking, and a space where you can do some creative thinking is always a good thing.

This steel and oak made-to-order desk from Etsy was pinned by Emmas Designblogg and I felt a surge of :  “Yes!  I would love to be this shoppes “desk ambassador”.”  It is simple, solid, relatively affordable, and can be made as big as you’d like!  Check it out HERE!

If you already have a desk or workspace, take a moment to clear it off. Wipe it down with a damp towel. Minimize the excess.  Here are a few tips to set up your desktop, feng-shui wise.  If you don’t have a desk or workspace at home or in an office, pick your favorite coffee shoppe or library and find a space that you can occupy to work with a big creative rectangle around you.  Some of my favorite desks have been in college libraries.  Just like buying new sneakers makes you more excited to go jogging (!) designated creative “desk” space will make you feel much more magnetized toward creating!

We just got a new desk yesterday and I am excited to set it up! It’s not as sexy as the one you posted, but my fiance and I are quite happy with it. The desk is solid wood with a spiced walnut stain and I just want to hug it, it is so lovely. It will be nice to have a dedicated space to use the laptop, to write and to draw.
