Imagine rainbows of color, streaming over the surface of life.
That is actually the way that color exists in our world: the waves are everywhere, emanating from all of energetic life.
You can deliberately use color in a wild spectrum of ways to support your own balance and wellness. Today, I wanted to share the way in which color actually works (IE, how in part we perceive color) and a few fun forms of color therapy that have magnetized my interest…!
We only see color when these waves fall in certain patterns, and is reflected back to us.
really shines a light on the alchemy of the nature of color itself and how we experience it:
“Newton observed that color is not inherent in objects. Rather, the surface of an object reflects some colors and absorbs all the others. We perceive only the reflected colors.
Thus, red is not “in” an apple. The surface of the apple is reflecting the wavelengths we see as red and absorbing all the rest. An object appears white when it reflects all wavelengths and black when it absorbs them all.”
So, if you ever wondered why lots of healers wear white – no energy is absorbed by the color- and the those who wear black are through to be emotionally intense- all energy waves are absorbed by black- you now have a bigger picture of color waves in action and how they affect our perspective.
This rainbow light is a brilliant way to blanket a room in a spectrum of color. Just as a balanced diet of nutrients is thought to promote physical health, rainbows of color are thought to be balancing to the mind and body on a more subtle level. I find that a rainbow spectrum can boost my own mood in minutes. This light is also pretty spectacular on a visual level, so I don’t think you can go wrong here for the art of it all!
The art of healing with color is quite a gorgeous ball of vibration! One form of color therapy that is practiced by trained color therapists (though I want to try it myself, for myself) is color therapy with colored silks. The silk colors are laid on the body to correlate with the body’s energy centers – chakras- to promote healing. These scarves are on my shopping list.
For a more subtle version of this, try dressing in colors that stimulate your chakra energies as you need them. Some fashion feng shui (more HERE) can also help!
In my musings on innovative forms of color healing, I stumbled upon this color test that can help you to see what colors on a more ethereal level can paint your world in greater balance. If you click through HERE and select your favorite color above, you can get ideas as to the symbolism of the combination and how to bring more of it to your life.
Even if you never use a single form of color healing, I hope the mechanics are not lost on you as they reveal so much of the actual electricity and life force vested in color. Bring more of your favorite colors into your life, eat more colorful food, and take advantage of ways to incorporate more color in your space!
xoxo Dana
