Every once in a while I get flashes of the future that are so crisp and clear that they simply have to be real. Today, it was Summer… in the Hamptons. I haven’t been to the farm-fresh, spacious, history, lush, beachy Long Island paradise in almost 10 years… but my eariest memories of the land, the old homes filled with modern decor backed up against salt air and waves… the mix of lush and simple. It’s not like the California beaches and nothing like the tropics… its rough, majestic, stately and supernaturally natural.
Today a mix of rustic and modern, beach-styled inspiration.
Wood, paper lamps, those mural flowers (!) and conservative symmetry. Classic turned inside out.
Bobby Flay & Stephanie Marsh do something grand by filling the bathroom with modern simplicity and opening up the windows to a picket fence and vast lot of trees.

But inside, they are an art and architecture jewelry box.
Rustic, modern and nothing shabby. Just pure chic.
I wonder if this summer is meant to be for the Hamptons, New England… maybe even back home in New Jersey… The spaces that call to you hold clues to the essence of what you need in your life in terms of emotion, character and design… and I think I need some classics soon!
