This much shared quote from the queen of happy prints, Lilly Pulitzer, hit home a few days ago. I’ve been surrounded by people on a quest for happiness. It’s sort of the basic building block of life that everyone wants and needs. Happiness.
Happiness is a classic.
I happen to love Positive Psychology. Are you surprised?! Today, Dan Gilbert’s awesome speech at TED, “Why Are We Happy? Why Are We Not Happy?” is first up to expand the happiness quotient today.
I watch this every once in a while for a jolt of happiness truism. It makes it clear that we can’t dwell on the past and use it as an excuse to be miserable. We also *can* create happiness right now!
Pretty awesome, huh?
So, of course, it’s really cool. You can make more happiness.
This week in the Artist’s Way group where we are all doing The Artist’s Way together, it is the week of POWER. Power is approached in this amazing book by Julia Cameron as a creative force. Part of owning your creative energy is asserting the power to protect what you love.
Power, here, means, in part: treating your ideas seriously, living with more objects you love and, most importantly, not letting people squash your creative beautifulness with harsh criticism and demeaning “hater” stuff that sadly still floats around. Power is all about building your positive energy and then protecting it by treating it with care.
Have you not been treating yourself well enough lately? Does your space look and feel like you at your best? Are people stepping on your creative toes too much?
A small investment in treating yourself – and your ideas and dreams- well can make all the difference!
While I don’t suggest putting cactii inside your home, you may want to try some cactii on the periphery of your house to create an energetic barrier outside windows where you feel exposed to others. Or, try plopping some selenite wands (my favorite mineral crystal to promote peace) on your active window ledges wherever you feel more exposed to traffic of draining energy. Or… simply close your curtains and keep your energy high in your home as the sun sets.
And… take your ideas seriously.
And your wellbeing, too!

I just heard a little Abraham Hicks You Tube clip. It was very simple. All about relaxing into what we want rather than getting worked up and striving super hard in unnatural ways.
The crux of it all: spend more time outside, spend more time grateful and spend more time relaxed.
That’s a super-start to big things, even if it doesn’t feel very revolutionary.
All that allowing of the good really is revolutionary!
