Five Mercury Retrograde Habits That Keep Life Flowing!

Mercury Retrograde habits are things I look forward to every few months!

Mercury Retrograde is historically one of my favorite times of year and it became this way when I realized all the greatness in this time when Mercury slows down in the sky and looks like it’s moving backwards for a while.

If you are interested in reading this I’m sure you are not unaware of the fabled problems inherent in Mercury Retrograde. You know: stories of the meltdowns of technology, being warned to not sign contracts, missed flights, arguments…

None of this is necessary.

At all!

Here are a few habits I double-down on during Mercury Retrograde that have become a mainstay in my Retrograde life.

My Mercury Retrograde Habits that are Musts!

Bed super-early. And naps, long naps. And a slower schedule. There are less opportunities for chaos in general if you are moving slower. If the idea is that Mercury is slowing down, I figured it would be in synch to slow down with it….and perhaps this is where my love of the Retrograde began?! It works wonders for my whole life. I slept 10 hours yesterday. I am feeling amazing.

Journaling like crazy is another favorite of Retrograde. When things slow down, it’s a great time to catch up and reflect. Brainstorming, sorting out details and connecting heart and words are beautiful rituals of mine that take center stage during this time.

Superfoods. Really super superfoods take center stage. I tend to go almost vegan during Mercury Retrograde, if not completely so, as all the sleep and rest sparks a wave of purification for me. I am a Virgo so maybe I’m hyper-sensitive in this way (!) of the Earth vibes, but if you’ve been thinking of doing a cleanse or a fast as the seasons change, now’s a wonderful time for it.

Extra-special Space Clearing. Rather than just burning sage or doing some deep house cleaning, in Retrograde I do a lot of cord-cutting, releasing rituals and more.   you can start with simple space clearing— my favorite ritual being my

Parties. While typically I have to say NO to a load of invitations in order to have a balanced life that isn’t running on empty, I say YES in Retrograde. Reach out to old friends, socialize, do more date night and one on one time and really listen and connect to people, meaningfully. Reconnections are life-expanding, bringing back both loved-ones and the memories you’ve shared with them… all in a flow.

I’m off to take a nap!

Anything you can do to refresh, rest, reinvigorate, reflect and reconnect… do it! Sink into now and Mercury Retrograde will become your secret-favorite time of year, too!

xoxo Dana

Thank you, Dana, for this great perspective on retrograde. I signed a contract two or three retrogrades ago and it turned into a disaster so I had been very concerned about signing another one as I’m looking for work and my divorce is in the ending stages. But…if I go at it from the perspective of cutting ties with what isn’t working it will all be positive.
For the first time in my life I’m only responsible only for myself and it’s incredible. My oldest is 39, youngest is 21 so I’ve been caring for others since I was 19. It’s quite the adventure!
    Thank you for the guidance.
