Today’s simple wellness boost is an Apple Cinnamon Detox Water that’s refreshing and unique. If you aren’t a cinnamon super-fan yet, you will be soon!
I’m really big on hydration these days (more HERE) and this detox water is a simple, yummy way to hydrate and feel great!
Apple Cinnamon Detox Water:
1. Gallon sized pitcher filled with filtered water
2. 1 thinly sliced apple
3. 1 cinnamon stick
4. Ice if you’d like.
Let it sit for a bit to infuse, and sip through the day, adding more water as you go.
Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the bark of the tree Cinnamomum, and it is known to hold very special healing properties. If you are looking for a delicious way to add some spice to your sweets and enhance the healing properties of your food, cinnamon is a winner…and you most likely already have it in your pantry.
While I make no health claims myself since nutrition is my love and not my job, here are some of the reported benefits of cinnamon:
1. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties that protect against heart disease
2. Cinnamon can also reduce the size of cancer cells and prevent cancer.
3. Eating cinnamon can prevent neurodegenerative diseases with it’s anti-inflammatory properties. These diseases include Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and brain tumors.
4. As an anti-inflammatory, cinnamon can relieve arthritis pain. Some studies show that a mere tablespoon can act as a pain reliever.
5. The aromatics of cinnamon can boost your brain function, improve your memory and enhance your ability to focus.
There are in-depth studies on cinnamon, and far more exhaustive articles that dive into the depths of it’s greatness, like this one here. My acupuncturist has me drink a teaspoon of cinnamon in honey every day to create balance in my system. It’s so good, and it seems to work!
