The Bulletproof craze has transcended a craze with it’s own cafe in Santa Monica, California… It’s become a part of the LA lingo. Bulletproofing Coffee, an innovation of Dave Asprey, is thought to have incredible health benefits.
Essentially, you blend a tablespoon of clarified butter (ghee) and MCT oil (coconut oil) into your coffee with a blender and then drink it. I had the chance to chat with Dave Asprey at a retreat last year and he’s clarified for me that matcha green tea can indeed substitute for the coffee.
I’ve Bulletproofed matcha tea for some time now, and I do like how I feel and focus enough that it’s worth sharing… but today… the matcha has become a smoothie bowl!
First, here are some of the reported benefits of Bulletproofing in general:
- Increases the absorption of nutrients
- Promotes weight loss
- Improves mental focus
- Gets rid of the highs and lows of drinking caffeine
- Decreases appetite
While I love to eat (!) and don’t need to lose my appetite, the focus and vitality I personally feel is awesome!
Bulletproof Matcha Smoothie Bowl:
1 cup coconut milk (I use one with NO GUAR GUM or additives)
1 cup frozen berries of your choice
1 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter)
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
½ tsp Matcha Green Tea powder
Blend all of this up and pour it in a bowl. Too it with nuts, shredded coconut and more chopped fruit. I include raw white chocolate on top (recipie here!) that are incredibly decadent!
