Have you struggled and sulked and wrestled and worried about all the potential you have that hasn’t been manifest in your days?
It’s all so common, or at least in my world, so you’re in very good company.
I work with hundreds of people a year who know there’s so much potential in love, in life, in art, in every day…and can’t seem to access it.
There’s no one key that opens the door to infinity of potential made manifest, but there is a common thread in everyone I’ve seen take their lives from stuck to soaring.
There are a few things that seem to be shared by all who break through.
In the folks that succeed and move forward and keep building their dreams, everything that is done is done with a spirit of FUN.
As with all things that aren’t apparently here yet, there’s a quantum trick to start this off with:
Everything is here already.
The soulmate, the completed novel, the big payday. The marathon has already been run before you take a step, but you need to take a step and then another to bring it to life. It’s not a New Age concept that everything already exists.
Science has acknowledged that time is not linear, that everything affects everything else and that we are basically unfolding life as we go. Cause and Effect aren’t like a ping pong match with the ball going back and forth; we can shake one tree and apples fall off another, so it’s not worth the stress of asking why that person, that job or that one thing hasn’t happened yet.
If you keep creating, things will happen.
The big thing that seems to work for everyone who has broken free of a stuck place of : “When will I be more of who I’m meant to be in the world?” is to constantly create great things, all the time, no matter what.
It’s what most impressed me about Elizabeth Gilbert’s book Big Magic. As she was starting off in a career as a writer, and even well into it, she didn’t write just to get the payday. In fact, she wasn’t sure she would ever get a payday. She wrote in order to be better and better every single day.
Ask yourself what you stand to lose- or what you’ll need to let go of- if you get what you want.
When I first realized 10 years ago that if I became as self-expressed as I wanted to be that I’d have to get rid of a lot of the judgements and fears and specific chaos in my life at the time, it was shocking.
A lot of that meant walking away from a social group that was full of negativity, cynicism and as much as I loved them, tons of gossip. I decided to brave a whole new way of life, I moved to a new place, and without that pressure and negativity around me, the momentum toward things I wanted started to build.
What would you lose if you were more in your flow?
Let go of that attachment and you’re on the way!
What’s missing from your days that brings you alive?
In The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron has you list things that you love to do. It’s a big list.
Mine recently revealed that it’s been six months to a year since I’ve done some of the things that are my biggest mind-expanding loves! Now, one by one, they’re coming back. Where have you left your own favorite things to languish?
Where can you learn more?
Learning is the greatest thrill in my life. If I’m not learning I feel… stunted. Take the time for lectures, documentaries, museums, books, conversations…
Did you know that whales used to live on land and walk like dogs?
See, that’s amazing!
More amazing is what happens when you decide to dig deep into all your potential and learn how to bring it to life. When you come upon a great idea, awesome science or methods you needed to know, it can start you on a whole new track of growth and, yes, potential made manifest!!!
What’s the stumbling block: money & time are the big ones I’ve seen and had in my own space. Whatever you feel you lack, how can you work around it?
Unless your ultimate purpose is to pile up stacks of money, there are ways that don’t involve spending money to bring your dreams into reality right now.
If time is your issue, this one’s for you!
Practice is a powerhouse of power. If you love something, practice it. Deeply. Profoundly. Let it really infuse your days with magic. Always improve on it. My best friend has a daughter who is a champion golfer at 6 years old and she let her Dad know the other day that it would be very hard to get her off the golf course now because she loves it too much and all she wants to do is get better and better.
This is fun. This is easy. There’s no reason you can’t do it now- something, a real something- to expand your space and life!
It may not be instant, but it’s the road to everything awesome, and it’s fulfilling and fantastic every day!
