The Wild Power Of Trading In Super-Busy For Super-Productive!

Jul 20, 2016 | Prosperity

Yes, please!

I have been “I’m just so crazy busy” way too often and that doesn’t always mean “I’m just so crazy productive.”

In fact, most of the time it meant: I was wasting time, I was cluttered, I was super-inefficient, my energy was being pulled toward people and things that were not serving me and not serving the highest good I could do with my life or I was simply screwing around and buying into the mythology that if you’re not busy you’re some kind of lazy slouch.

Now: I take naps in the middle of the day, I see friends or read books for hours every day and when I’m really crazy busy it is for a very real reason, not just because it sounds good or I’m just so scattered I can’t get it together.

Big things change when you swap busy for productive.  We’re all so busy… but… how productive are you?

This question can help you get productive and get your time, joy and actual brilliance back in flow!

If you’re looking to produce more, get distracted less.  Don’t get me wrong, breaks are awesome… but distractions are destructive.

Distractions: super-low-vibe gossip, negative people, slippery & toxic relationships that cast a haze on your life, clutter, irresponsibility, disorganization.

These are just a few of the distractions.  The list is so much bigger and very powerfully personal.  Whatever takes you out of this present moment- whether it’s an addiction or a sugar binge or anything else- is a distraction.

Drop just one of these and you’ll go from busy to productive.

Drop a many as you can and it’s a rocket-ride.

In our online Camps, we strip the layers of blocks to abundance that are distractions and the results are somewhat instant and always exciting because you quickly start to see just how powerful you really are…!

We’re all piling on BUSY as a distraction from our own best and highest life.

This quote from Marianne Williamson has always brought me a sense of liberation when I’d find myself hiding behind busy (* sort of hiding out at home from life in general because I was so busy, you know?) :
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”
I got a “talking to” from a very successful and productive friend about four years ago as my main operative in life was to hide out and type blog posts for a while rather than confronting some big stuff (beyond distractions, heavy emotional stuff) that I needed to confront…

When I turned down a fourth or fifth invitation to dinner, it went something like this:

So, why are you so busy? What are you doing? (I think she offered to help, which got me to talking…And realizing… I was busy doing busy-work…!)

Are you getting a lot done in your busy-ness? (I was not…)

Where do you spend your time when you’re not busy? (If it’s not recharging your energy, it’s more of a drain…and I was in a super-drain of no socializing!)

So, why are you so busy?

I was… avoiding my emotions, avoiding my life, avoiding risks, avoiding pain, avoiding the demons I had to face… so… I was busy.  Shortly after that conversation, I became un-busy and started to deal with my life.  It was work… but…wow… it make me ultra-productive and excited and…

I’m now very suspicious of myself when I’m just so busy.  I make sure it’s all real and I’m not hiding.

Now, the barometer isn’t the hours worked but the stuff that’s completed.  Way more stuff than I ever did “busy” in half the time!

If you’re too busy, see if you can scale it back and unload the busy-ness. It might just transform your life… and your career, too!;)
