Predictions are powerful, as are the words of trusted experts, so you want to be wise in what you accept as your own. What you choose (or are programmed as a child) to believe can be your destiny in many ways unless you decide to create a new story for your life and your beliefs.
If you’ve been told about the negative outcomes ahead for you in any way- by teachers, experts, psychics, doctors, coaches, parents, friends- please take some time to dig in and cast those negatives aside.
Most of these are pretty obvious- we avoid things because of beliefs that they’re not for us, we feel we have no healing options for illnesses because doctors say it’s not possible and our negative forecasts handed to us evolve into realities.
While you can say that you’re ignoring or not interested in other people’s negative forecast opinions, take a look at your life and see if they’ve had an influence upon you. I’ve found so many of my own inherited and distorted negative expectations that have been de-cluttered and transformed in the past year, things I thought I was done with clinging around and messing with my days that I can tell you first-hand with a passion how life-changing it is to be free of this stuff!
The Nocebo effect is defined HERE with clarity: The nocebo effect is when a negative expectation of a phenomenon causes it to have a more negative effect than it otherwise would. A nocebo effect causes the perception that the phenomenon will have a negative outcome to actively influence the result.
Be aware of what you say “runs in your family.”
Whether it has to do with your physical or mental health, your relationships, your opportunities and abilities you have an incredible power in your mind and your creative facilities that shape our everyday reality to make it true! In one study reported in Psychology Today, women who believed they were prone to heart disease were four times more likely to die. Its not because these women had poorer diets, higher blood pressure, higher cholesterol, or stronger family histories than the women who didnt get heart disease. The only difference between the two groups was their beliefs.
This is quite major. Of course, the most powerful data on beliefs affecting us on a cellular level comes from Dr. Bruce Lipton and his mountains of clinical research culminating in the book The Biology Of Belief. (you can read more about his work and preview Chapter One of this must-read book right HERE)
The Technical University of Munich in Germany analyzed 31 experiments that used empirical data. Empirical data is information acquired by observation or experimentation. This data is recorded and analyzed by scientists and is a central process as part of the scientific method. They concluded that, although perplexing, the nocebo effect is surprisingly common and ought to be taken into consideration by medical professionals on an everyday basis.
In one of these experiments subjects who had prostate disease were being treated with finasteride, a drug that is used to relieve the symptoms of this disease. Half of the subjects were told that a major side effect of taking the drug could result in erectile dysfunction, while the other half were not told anything about side effects. The results reported HERE, Forty-four percent of the first group reported that theyd experienced ED, compared with just 15 percent of the uninformed group.
Even words used by doctors can cause you more painful side effects and can affect your pain management during treatment of a particular disease. After analysis, pain, sting, burn, hurt or bad the more the pain was felt by the patients.
You might also want to observe and change the words you use. “Fighting through it”, “suffering through it, ” “battling”, “hoping for a miracle” and other words we use to define conflicts, issues and illnesses are speaking in terms of effort and highlighting failure. Stay easy with your words and create more ease in your life.
