Change Your Day By Changing The Space Around You!

May 7, 2019 | Creativity

If you want to make a big shift in your life and you don’t know where to begin, your environment and your energy are an easy place to start.

They’re not just the easier place to start— they’re also often the most effective,

In fact, they may be all you need to shift to see everything change!

While repainting a room or fluffing up your pillows may not erase an enormous trauma from your life, these little things can signal deeper changes and open the doors for the deeper solutions to appear.

No matter where you’re starting from, you can make huge changes by taking the easiest of actions.

How good does it feel to even think of taking a hot bath and maybe lighting a few candles? Or, to lay on the beach? Or, to take a hike?

There are so many feel great experiences and their great feelings are rooted in the environment.

For example: A hike lined with lush trees is a little different from a hike full of pavement, cars and city everywhere. My favorite Los Angeles hike became a social scene and it slipped out of my life because the energy there was no longer in harmony with rejuvenation. Similarly, a day at the beach is different when it’s sunny versus after a rainstorm in the cold.

The difference is in the environment and the energy.

What we experience through our senses changes our life!

That’s one simple way to “see” the power of our environment in action.

While you may not be able to create your own local hike or control the weather on your beach day, you can definitely shape your environment in ways that change your experience.

Right now, look around you or imagine your home.

Where do you feel the best right now?

What’s out of place or capturing too much of your attention? (*even great things can be a distraction if they’re out of harmony with what you want to experience)

Right now, I found three things that were reading as “stress” on my desk, and it is prompting me to make a few easy shifts.

  • I put away a few things I didn’t need to see.
  • I put a task on my to-do list.
  • I put my journal aside to write a bit later.
  • I’m headed out on a long walk to further shift my energy to feel more grounded.
  • A cup of custom-blended herbal tea (meaning: I put a spoon of each– thyme leaves and fennel seeds– in the teapot container) is on my desk now.
  • I’ve dusted and I’m going to mop.

These all lighten and brighten me in the ways I’m craving light and bright energy on this gloomy day. This took me less than 10 minutes (*except for the walk!) and it’s all been incredibly important in shifting my day.

It’s easier for me than thinking on it too much.

“Hm, I wonder what’s wrong…” leads inevitably to a downward spiral with no real solution for the moment right now.

So, if you start shifting your space… you’ll see the inside (mood, thoughts, energy) shift.

And, when you feel the inside shift (mood, thoughts, energy), that brings the outside to life even more.

A couple of easy shifts can be the start of big creative breakthroughs!

xoxo!!!
